“Money where your mouth is” – Gilbert Burns bets against Ali Abdelaziz over Charles Oliveira vs Islam Makhachev fight
Ali Abdelaziz and Gilbert Burns make a bet over Charles Oliveira vs Islam Makhachev
The potential lightweight bout between Charles Oliveira vs Islam Makhachev has unbelievable hype. So much that Gilbert Burns is betting against his manager Ali Abdelaziz on who would win that fight.
Both Charles Oliveira and Islam Makhachev are riding on an 11-fight win streak and a 10-fight win streak respectively, which makes for an ultimate matchup for the vacant lightweight belt. Several MMA personalities have come out in support of this fight to be made. Welterweight title contender Gilbert Burns and Ali Abdelaziz of Dominance MMA are two such names who have publicly pushed for this fight to happen.
It isn’t an easy fight to predict as Burns and his manager Ali have different opinions on the outcome of a fight. Recently after hearing Gilbert’s picks, Abdelaziz wrote out by saying, “Hey @GilbertDurinho I just heard your interview about Olivera can beat Islam, I know you don’t believe that, and Beneil will beat Olivier too.”
Burns wasted no time calling out his manager to put money on his prediction. “Put your money where your mouth is. I got Charles against both! How much?” wrote Gilbert saying fellow Brazilian would beat top contenders Islam and Beneil.
Gilbert Burns believes Charles Oliveira’s Jiu-Jitsu will triumph Islam Makhachev’s combat sambo
Charles Oliveira vs Islam Makhachev is possibly the biggest stylistic matchup we have seen in the UFC for a long time. While the Dagestani showcases a dominant fighting style with absolute control inside the octagon, Charles has the most finishes in the division. ‘Do Bronx’ is impossible to deal with on the ground given his elite jiu-jitsu.
And Gilbert Burns picks Charles to be the winner of that potential fight precisely because of this. Burns believes Oliveira has superior striking over Islam and has a better ground game. Gilbert watched Charles up-and-close during his finish against Justin Gaethje at UFC 274 in Phoenix, Arizona. “Oliveira can get a win because of the striking, the pressure that he does…the Jiu-Jitsu,” said Burns in his prediction talking to Helen Yee.
