Gilbert Burns loses whopping $50k on Charles Oliveira after Islam Makhachev shocks the world at UFC 280
Gilbert Burns loses money after betting against Islam Makhachev
Safe to say welterweight title contender Gilbert Burns is never doubting Islam Makhachev from here on. The Brazilian welterweight recently lost a bet after picking fellow Brazilian Charles Oliveira to win at UFC 280.
Charles Oliveira vs Islam Makhachev was one of the most-anticipated fights of the year and it delivered as promised. Islam Makhachev’s win at UFC 280 not only upset his opponent but several fans of “do Bronx” around the world. Gilbert Burns, who is a friend of the former lightweight champion lost $50k after betting against Makhachev.
Lucky for Burns, he went against his own manager, Ali Abdelaziz in his bet. Abdelaziz manages both, Islam Makhachev, and Burns. The two had a major back-and-forth about who was going to win in the fight between Makhachev and Oliveira. Abdelaziz will have the last laugh as Burns posts the receipt of sending his manager $50,000 after losing the bet.
“Did you receive?” wrote Burns in his tweet posting a screenshot of his payment to Abdelaziz. Lucky for the Brazilian, his manager was not interested in taking money from his own fighters. “Keep your money,” wrote back the founder of Dominance MMA as he responded with a laughing emoji.
Keep your money ?

Gilbert Burns shows Charles Oliveira his respect after UFC 280 loss
Gilbert Burns was one of the biggest supporters of Charles “Do Bronx” Oliveira in the lead-up to the fight at UFC 280. The support from Burns will remain the same through win or loss. The welterweight contender put out a tweet in support of his fellow countryman after he faced defeat at the hands of Islam Makhachev in the main event fight.
“Head up champ! You’re a huge inspiration! Will be back soon!” wrote Burns reacting to Oliveira’s loss. Burns strongly believed that the Brazilian superstar would make it against the toughest challenge of his career in Islam Makhachev. However unfortunately for the fan-favorite, there wasn’t much he could do against the dominant Dagestani.
Cabeça pra cima campeão! Vc é inspiração! @CharlesDoBronxs vai dar volta por cima mais uma vez! Eu acredito! ❤️????
