The UFC has seen some controversial judging over these past few months. Be it Paddy Pimblet’s win over Gordon or Sean O’Malleys’s split decision over Per Yan. But the recent Cory Sandhagen’s split decision victory over Marlon Vera at UFC San Antonio is the fight making headlines at the moment due to its terrible judging. Gilbert Burns on his media rounds for UFC 287 took his time addressing this issue.

The number 5 ranked welterweight fighter believes that the intention of these judges might be very wrong. “I think those judges got to be investigated,” said Burns talking to TMZ in an interview. “We need FBI on these judges because those judges may be working with the betting company, I think those guys are being dirty and maybe trying to get some money out of these fights,” added the Brazilian.

UFC fans and fighters lately have the same issue with the judges and even questioned their scorecards on many occasions. Burns’ dissatisfaction further fuels this feeling. Gilbert Burns is calling for the UFC and NSAC to do something about it as he thinks this will never stop. Cory Sandhagen also believes a “universal commission” should be formed to stop bad judging in UFC fights.

Controversial wins are a rampant issue in the UFC and won’t stop if not looked into. Burns also mentioned that it isn’t the duty of UFC but wants the Nevada State Athletic Commission to look into the matter.

The five-round war between Marlon Vera and Cory Sandhagen at UFC San Antonio left many fans angry with its terrible judging. At the end of the fight, Bruce Buffer announced that two of the judges scored in favor of The Sandman and one scored the contest in favor of Chito. This judge’s scorecard left MMA fans in confusion, with even Sandhagen looking a bit confused after it was read out.

Many UFC fighters question the judge’s logic behind the score. The current UFC lightweight Champion Islam Makhachev also tweeted regarding the huge blunder. Islam Manga chef took to Twitter after the event and wrote “I want to see the judges who gave Chito”.

Dana White, himself criticized the terrible judging as he believes the score was [5-0 ] or [ 4 -1] for Sandhagen. Due to Chito’s laid-back performance, the Sandman won at the end of the day. However, terrible judging still remains a problem in the UFC that needs solving.
