UFC’s color commentator, Joe Rogan is known for his play-by-play descriptive commentary. And his prominent The Joe Rogan Experience podcast bagged a multiyear deal with Spotify reportedly worth around $250 million. But 2000s kids would remember him as the cool-headed mediator of the TV reality show – “Fear Factor“. He hosted the game show from 2001 to 2006. Concurrently, this led him to more opportunities like the episode “A Beautiful Mind” of Just Shoot Me as ‘Chris’. And ‘The Man Show‘ on Comedy Central.

Rogan was a fan-favorite host and a fearless mediator himself. Little did the audience know about his combat sports enthusiasm and extensive background. His tenure was, however, not without its merit of turbulence and drama. Rogan got into a physical altercation with a couple after a heated argument at Fear Factor. Speaking on The JRE MMA Show #1195, he detailed his weird work experience on the show. In a sitdown with Jeff Dye on The JRE MMA Show #2097, he further explained –

That guy they'd warned me about, he had a history of violence...he had done some violent things on some other reality shows.

The said fight took place in ‘The Amazing Race’ segment. While a wife was in peril executing the race, former art consultant and pro-wrestler Jonny Fairplay (of the ‘Survivor’ series) haggled with her. Fairplay played mind games on the husband, calling her “dead-weight”; the wife came back and punched Fairplay hard, flooring him. When Rogan voiced his offense, the husband charged him.

However, Rogan caught his neck in a downward clinch. On the JRE segment, Dye lauded Rogan’s combative acumen in mediating the situation quickly. One interesting titbit seen is Michael Gregory Mizanin (‘The Miz‘) trying to stop the fight. However, Rogan’s unpublished mettle in fights was the more interesting titbit back then.

What martial arts training does Joe Rogan have?

MMA commentator and podcaster, Joe Rogan, has gone viral for his notions on combat sports many times. From Rogan’s rare clip of him squeaking at a knee bar submission footage to him debating why boxing is more dangerous than MMA; a topic he has made a strong case for on several occasions. But Joe Rogan’s own MMA acumen is impressive beyond measure as well.
