“Jon’s gonna do a lot of DAMAGE” Henry Cejudo and Chael Sonnen make a DETAILED analysis of Jon Jones vs Stipe Miocic super fight
Henry Cejudo- Jon Jones- Chael Sonnen
The debate over who wins in a potential super fight between Jon Jones and Stipe Miocic goes on, and Henry Cejudo and Chael Sonnen aren’t getting enough of the debate either. Cejudo, a former 2-division UFC champion and an Olympic champion recently brought in Sonnen, a former multiple-time UFC title challenger over his Youtuber channel to break down the fight that many assume is closer than ever to happening. Here’s what Sonnen had to say first.
“Jon’s gonna do a lot of damage to Stipe Miocic on feet,” says Sonnen “He’s going to kick his legs, he is good with the range. He’s going to do some things… if he’s on his feet trading with Stipe, or either can’t take him down Daniel Cormier could not or elects to not take him down, it does provide an opportunity for Stipe, even if Jones is winning…”
“I don’t see that Francis Ngannou in Stipe that can really put Jon in danger,” pat comes the reply from Cejudo. “I think in every area, Jon Jones happens to be faster, quicker, stronger and weighing… he’s a big legit heavyweight.”
Jon Jones vs Stipe Miocic: Are Henry Cejudo and Chael Sonnen overlooking Stipe Miocic?
Jones last fought in February 2020 when he defended his light heavyweight title against Dominick Reyes, submitting his last fight inside the Octagon at a weight limit of 205 lbs. He later on decided to announce that he would be preparing his physique to compete at heavyweight and become one of the few fighters to have ever got hold of a UFC title in 2 different weight classes. Jones is now nearing a three-year layoff and there’s yet to be an opponent assumed for him. Forget about announcing a name.
But the name most likely to challenge Jones before he goes against the current heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou for a direct title shot is none other than the preceding heavyweight champion, Stipe Miocic. Miocic last fought in March 2021, when he lost to Ngannou via first-round knockout. Just like Jones’ status in light heavyweight, Miocic is widely regarded as the greatest UFC heavyweight of all time.

In his second last fight, a trilogy with Daniel Cormier, Miocic proved that his defensive wrestling has levelled up too many stages, and he also runs humongous knockout power in both of his hands. Jones, on the other hand, has an incomparable strength in grappling and is a diverse tactician in the game of striking.
