“Killer Instinct” Henry Cejudo favors Alex Periera to defeat Israel Adesanya in a thrilling UFC 281 main event

Cejudo backs Pereira at UFC 281 in MSG

Henry Cejudo believes Alex Pereira’s story of chasing Israel Adesanya across sporting lines just to be able to defeat him over and over, will be one for the history books if he manages to do the same in their upcoming UFC title bout. One veteran who think Pereira has what it takes to make it happen is Henry Cejudo.

Pereira and Izzy have faced each other twice in kickboxing with the Brazilian walking out victorious in both fights. While the first fight was close enough, Izzy would insist that you believe the second was going his way until it wasn’t. That second fight gained Alex the honor of being the only fighter to ever KO Israel Adesanya.

On Twitter he shared the video, with the caption, “I think Israel Adesanya vs Alex Pereira is going to look different from their kickboxing fights, but the result could be same. With respect to the champ, Pereira is the more diverse and dangerous striker in kickboxing & MMA.”

“I do believe this fight because you have 2 strikers, it won’t last 5 rounds, ” said Cejudo, basing that on Pereira having prior experience dealing with Adesanya. Cejudo believes Pereira will be taking aim at Izzy’s lead leg every time he pulls away trying to land the knockout blows he landed on the likes of Robert Whittaker.

He then further elaborated on how Pereira while cautious is not completely one-dimensional like Israel as he likes to mix in every aspect of his striking, with Cejudo especially highlighting the flying knees from Alex.

“It’s an interesting fight, just because of the simple fact that both of these are recognizable names coming over from kickboxing to MMA, and here is where we get to see who is more well-rounded, ” said Cejudo as he was about to conclude his break down for this fight.

Ultimately Triple C backs Poatan Pereira simply because he believes him to have a better killer instinct than that seen from Izzy.
