“Something that hasn’t been done,” Holly Holm fancies on idea of huge boxing fight against undefeated Katie Taylor
Holly Holm- Katie Taylor
Former UFC women’s bantamweight champion and also, former women’s pound for pound great in boxing, Holly Holm will most likely see her future in a way of going back to where she came from. Holm, who’s wandering gracefully in the MMA part of her illustrious combat sports career, is 3-1 in her last 4 fights, with her last fight being a decision victory nearly 2 years ago. Holm’s name shot to fame back in 2015 when she became the UFC champion by knocking out the then-undefeated Ronda Rousey with a spectacular head kick.
However, 40-year old Holm has done it all in boxing and kickboxing as well. In boxing, Holm went 33-2 and 3 draws with 9 wins by way of knockouts. A multiple-time world champion across three weight classes, Holm has twice been named Fighter of the Year by Ring Magazine i.e. 2005 and 2006 and is considered one of the best welterweights to ever step foot inside the ring.
Holm is even set to be inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame later in 2022. She left boxing in 2013 to pursue MMA full-time and has had great success.

In an interview with MMA Fighting’s THE MMA HOUR with Ariel Helwani, Holm talked about her future as a mixed-martial artist, her Hall of Fame induction in boxing this year and much more. Holm then also gave her thoughts on the recent women’s boxing superfight between Amanda Serrano and Katie Taylor, and if she would ever be interested to enter into the boxing ring for fighting Taylor, who defeated Serrano via split decision in the first-ever women’s main event in Madison Square Garden.
“We had talked, Taylor and myself before I wound up going to MMA. We had talked about a possible fight there,” Holm said. “I always want to do something that hasn’t been done. I always get super intrigued by things, and I fought at three weight divisions, ‘40, ‘47, and ‘54, and I never got to fight at ‘35. But I’ve done most of my MMA career at ‘35, and that’s what their fight was at. So it makes me like, ‘I want to go back in and show what I can do at a whole different weight class,“ concludes Holm. What do you make of Holm’s aspirations to fight Taylor? Do you think she can pull off an upset victory over the undefeated Irish Olympic champion in Taylor? The age difference is not more than that of 6 years, but Holm has been battle-tested way more in her life than Taylor, so naturally, the latter is the fresher fighter. But who knows, boxing has a history of the great George Foreman winning the heavyweight championship again in his late forties, Holm has just turned 40.
