While Eric Nicksick was hailed all over the internet for predicting Marlon Vera’s head kick knockout over Dominick Cruz all over the internet. someone else was also involved in prediction thoughts and that was too long before the fight. Vera’s last win was the biggest of his career by defeating Cruz in an aforementioned way, that’s Vera’s first win over a former world champion. Vera trains out of RVCA gym under head coach Jason Parillo.
Parillo has been a longtime MMA coach and has been alongside the likes of BJ Penn, Tito Ortiz, Michael Bisping, Mackenzie Dern, Luke Rockhold and many more. Vera is another addition to his legendary resume of fighters he has coached or he is coaching. Parillo specifically looks after the striking department of the MMA while leaving the rest to other athletes.

In an interview with Ariel Helwani at the MMA Hour, Vera talks about his knockout win over Cruz, his future as a fighter, his explanation of ‘low level’ comments about Cruz and much more. In the midst of all, Helwani asks Vera about a couple of pictures his coach, Parillo sent a week before the fight and what they were about in relation to the fight.
“He sent me 2 pictures seven days ago, he didn’t write or say anything, he just sent me a picture of Munoz literally kicking him right on the hip bone and Dominick’s head was dipping full on the other side and he sent me that picture... I saw that and I was like okay, the first thing that came to my head was decoy… throw something here, you move the other side and throw whatever as hard as you can on the other side. It worked. And he did tell me after the third round, ‘hey, you’re this close to catching him…'” says Vera.
