Ian Garry was to take on former teammate Vicente Luque at UFC 296. They were to open the main card of the year-end UFC PPV card. However, UFC CEO Dana White announced that the fight was off after the Irishman pulled out of the fight citing illness. Ian Garry faced a lot of backlash from the fans in recent times due to numerous controversies. As such, fans questioned the credibility of the Irishman’s reason.

UFC 296 is one of the most anticipated fight cards this year. However, the cancellation of Ian Garry vs. Vicente Luque disappointed the MMA world. As such, Dana White stated that Garry suffered from the flu for the past few days and now it had turned into pneumonia. Hence, the UFC canceled the fight.
