UFC 292 in Boston featured a welterweight bout on the main card. MMA veteran Neil Magny took on Irish prospect Ian Garry in a three-round fight. A win for either fighter could do wonders for them in the division. Garry destroyed Magny from the first minute to the last. He won the bout via unanimous decision. During the post-fight interview, Ian Garry called out Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson to a fight.

Garry said, “I’m the best striker in welterweight,” to take aim at Thompson. It was supposed to be Ian Garry vs. Geoff Neal. However, Geoff pulled out due to an injury, and Magny replaced him on the main card. The fascinating aspect remains that Garry always wanted to fight Magny, but only Geoff Neal signed up to fight the Irishman. Eventually, in the end, Garry got his wish after Geoff had to pull out.

Garry dropped Magny multiple times with leg kicks. There was something wrong with Magny’s leg. Garry landed the cleaner punches in the first round. However, it was much more of a clinch fest in the second round. Ian Garry did show good takedown defense. Magny hurt his leg, but Garry did not pull the trigger to finish the fight. He pieced up Magny as he promised.

In the third round, Garry once again attacked the leg of Magny. He won the bout but did not bury the hatchet with Neil Magny. In the post-fight interview with Joe Rogan, he proceeded to call out Stephen Thompson for a five-round fight. Fans would love to see a striking clash between Thompson and Garry.
