Ian Machado Garry fought a dangerous contender in Daniel Rodriguez at UFC on ABC 4 in North Carolina. The Irish prospect entered the UFC in 2021 and has showcased high-level striking in his performances. The rise of Conor McGregor inspired Garry to pursue a career in MMA. McGregor is known for predicting how he will win a fight. Similarly, Ian Garry predicted how he would defeat Rodriguez in their bout.

Peter Carroll interviewed Garry in March to discuss his fight with Rodriguez. Garry said, “Just be so intelligent. This is why my fight IQ is so much greater than everybody else. In my brain, it will just click. I have already got the map in my head. I can tell you how I am going to knock him out.” Carroll desired to know the answer and asked him to reveal the prediction. Garry said, “Right high kick.”

Garry channeled his inner Conor McGregor to predict the finish. McGregor famously predicted how he would knock out Jose Aldo in their championship bout at UFC 194. It appears Irishmen have a particular skill of predicting the finish of their fights. The future looks bright for Garry as he is only 25 years old with plenty of time to improve. The fight against Rodriguez was the second time Garry fought in 2023.

Garry defeated Song Keenan at UFC 285. He will get a top-ten opponent for his next bout. Garry aims to become the next fighter from Ireland to hold a UFC title. McGregor became the first Irishman to become a UFC champion in 2015. Garry is ambitious and can fight for the title someday with the right mindset and learning experience.

Irish prospect Ian Garry defeated Daniel Rodriguez via TKO in the first round at UFC on ABC 4. The card featured the heavyweight main event fight between Jairzinho Rozenstruik and Jailton Almeida. After the victory, Garry called out a veteran welterweight fighter for his next fight.

Garry said, “I want the guy that’s been known as the gatekeeper to top 10 for God knows how long. His name is Neil Magny. I want you next. UFC, you have a new star in town.” It appears Garry wants to challenge Neil Magny for his next bout.

Neil Magny is a highly experienced veteran with over 35 fights in his professional career. He has notable wins over Geoff Neal, Kelvin Gastelum, Carlos Condit, and Robbie Lawler in his career. Fight fans hope to see Garry face the veteran Magny in his next fight.
