Ian Garry‘s nickname is ‘The Future’, and he is dedicated to making it true inside the octagon. The Irish native is a big fan of “The Notorious” Conor McGregor. McGregor has also acknowledged Garry as a future champion. The two notably trained together, and McGregor recently released their sparring footage.
McGregor is famous for his Karate stance that bagged him double champ status in the UFC. Garry was a recent guest on The Energized Show. In the show, Garry revealed an incident that left him awe-struck with Conor McGregor. This is what he said.
Conor, like the split-second he squat and the hand came out, and the spin started coming, I was like, "Get the f**k out of here.".......I knew it was the spinning kick coming. I was like, "Get the f**k out." Well, lad, honestly, that was super exciting as a fan.
When Garry sparred with Conor McGregor, he was very much starstruck when McGregor pulled out his signature moves on him. McGregor has one of the best spinning kick techniques in the UFC. When McGregor did the same to Garry, “The Future” had a fanboy moment. Unfortunately, since his boxing fight with Floyd Mayweather, McGregor shifted focus to a boxing-centric approach inside the octagon.
McGregor is presumed to return inside the octagon at UFC 300. On the other hand, Ian Garry will fight former training partner Vicente Luque at UFC 296. Leon Edwards and Colby Covington will headline the PPV. Recently, Garry was ousted from Team Renegade BJJ & MMA, which Edwards calls home. Moreover, the news attracted controversy because Edwards and Garry were once good training partners.
Ian Garry excited for Conor McGregor, the best ever to do MMA, return back in action
In a recent interview with the Energized Show, McGregor spoke highly of Conor McGregor. Like McGregor, Garry is poised to become a future champion by many fans. However, he also has his share of haters in the MMA community.
Conor McGregor took trash-talking to a different level in the UFC. However, Garry’s trash-talking resulted in polarizing opinions. Nevertheless, it did not stop him from changing his stance. Moreover, after training with him, Garry is excited about McGregor’s return to the octagon. This is what he said about McGregor’s return during the Energized Show.
I got to see the best to ever do it, and I got to feel his strike and his power, his awkwardness, and it was absolutely incredible. Yeah, lads, it just makes me even more excited for when he's going to come back.
McGregor’ return is highly anticipated for UFC 300 against Michael Chandler. However, in a recent appearance on the MMA Hour, John Kavanagh said that the return will be later. Nevertheless, Garry is immensely excited about the return of his mentor and role model.
