Undefeated UFC star, Movsar Evloev recently called out Ilia Topuria on X. Evloev pointed out that Topuria was avoiding facing him in the octagon. Here is what happened:

Ilia Topuria has called out a lot of top contenders in the UFC. However, Russian featherweight, Movsar Evloev was not happy that he did not make the list. Evloev retweeted a video of Topuria where he wrote: 

Conor, Islam, Khabib, Mayweather, Muhammad Ali, Messi… Who else do you want to fight rather than the only undefeated fighter in your division?

Movsar Evloev criticized Ilia Topuria for excluding him from his list of callouts despite Evloev’s undefeated record. Evloev boasts a professional MMA record of 18 wins and 0 losses. He believed he deserved a shot at Topuria’s featherweight title and found Topuria’s callouts to other fighters amusing. Evloev stated that he should be next in line for the undefeated champion.

At the UFC 298 press conference, Ilia Topuria had responded to Movsar Evloev’s callouts. Topuria responded by acknowledging Evloev as a potential opponent. However, he highlighted Evloev’s lack of finishes in his career. Topuria said that Movsar was a good fight for him and that he would love to fight him. However, Topuria pointed out that Movasar Evloev had eight fights in the UFC of which eight were decisions, zero submissions, and zero knockouts. Thus, he concluded that Evloev was not ready for a title fight.

Fans were amused by Movsar Evloev’s tweet calling out Ilia Topuria. Many criticized Evloev saying a fight with him would not sell tickets as compared to the other fighters on the list. Meanwhile, Evloev’s supporters hinted that Topuria was running from a fight with him.

Evloev and Topuria were supposed to fight at UFC 270. However, Evloev withdrew due to a positive COVID-19 test. Meanwhile, Topuria was later removed from the card due to a medical issue related to cutting weight. It will be interesting to see if this potential fight ever comes true in the octagon.
