Dan Hooker, the Kiwi lightweight star, sustained a broken arm while training for his upcoming fight against Bobby Green at UFC Austin. When he absorbed a kick during a sparring session, he fractured his arm in the same location where he had previously broken a bone in a split-decision win over Jalin Turner at UFC 290 in July.

Hooker spoke with Submission Radio about the circumstances surrounding the injury and his emotional state after suffering the same fate for the second time. He accepted that attempting to return to the octagon quickly was a risk but said the choice was completely his own. This is what he said:

I wanted to fight. I knew the risk of coming back that quickly, and we rolled the dice and we come up snake eyes, baby…I took a risk. I’ll just go back. I’ll get it healed properly, and I’ll be back.UFC 300 in five months, that’s a good target..Everything happens for a reason.
