Just in case Alexander Volkanovski had doubts about his lightweight title shot against Islam Makhachev, the newly crowned 155-pound champ has confirmed yet again that the two will scrap in Perth, Australia.
Islam Makhachev and Alexander Volkanovski are most likely going to be the next lightweight title fight. It didn’t take long for the newly crowned lightweight champion to call out his next opponent at UFC 280. After beating Charles Oliveira, Makhachev’s focus immediately shifted towards Volkanovski who now has the P4P first spot.
The featherweight champ called out Makhachev on Twitter once again and asked him to assure a lightweight title fight. Volkanovski wrote, “Are you a man of your word? Let’s make it happen!” in his tweet suggesting a title fight in his backyard at Perth. Makhachev, to double down on his interest in fighting the P4P king sent back a cheeky message to the Aussie.
“The second I receive the paper, I will sign it, don’t worry enjoy your P4P first spot for now,” wrote Makhachev in reply. Makhachev and Volkanovski is a very interesting fight to watch for the fans. Alex Volkanovski has been wanting to fight for the second belt for quite some time now and looks like the deal will soon be done.

Yair Rodriguez calls out Alex Volkanovski for wanting to fight Islam Makhachev

Amid the talks between Volkanovski and Makhachev, featherweight top contender, Yair Rodriguez has called out the featherweight champion and asked him to be a man of his word. The Mexican featherweight claims that Volkanovski had promised him a title shot when they met in Dallas.
“Hey, @alexvolkanovski Are you a man of your word? We had a talk in Dallas. Everyone knows I’m next,” wrote Rodriguez quoting Volkanovski’s call out to the lightweight champion. Volkanovski believes he is leagues above the current featherweight contenders in the UFC.
