Brotherhood and unity between fighters is a recurring theme in the UFC. One famous example of this is the bond between Khabib Nurmagomedov and Islam Makhachev. The UFC legend was spotted training with his protege Islam Makhachev this week. 

The video is a minute long. It showed the training footage between Nurmagomedov and Islam Makhachev. The duo were engaged in a standing wrestling session and the training went back and forth. Both the fighters were trying to get an upper hand over the other during this session. The high level of wrestling expertise could be seen in this video. They employed pushes, trips, and attempts to throw the other down during this training.

Nurmagomedov retired in 2020 after going 29-0. He left the sport on top. But he remains active in coaching fighters at the American Kickboxing Academy as well as in Dagestan. Makhachev has been his top pupil. The 32-year-old Makhachev sports a 25-1 record. His last win came versus Alexander Volkanovski at UFC 294. 

Nurmagomedov takes pride in coaching Makhachev. He sees his protégé as the future of UFC’s lightweight division. He will most likely defend his title this summer against Charles Oliveira or another top lightweight.

Footage of retired UFC champ, Khabib Nurmagomedov coaching Islam Makhachev has gone viral. It showed Nurmagomedov intensely training his protege. They both engaged in a standing wrestling session, each striving to outwit the other. Fans reacted with excitement about Makhachev’s future under his mentor’s guidance.
