A hilarious video of one of Alexander Volkanovski’s training sessions surfaced on the internet. Netizens hilariously comment on it linking it to the rumored and highly anticipated Volkanovski vs Makhachev rematch.
Islam Makhachev and Alexander Volkanovski faced each other in the octagon on 12 February 2023 at UFC 284. The two champions went at each other in a hellish bout that had the fans in Perth, Australia on their feet, cheering.
UFC Featherweight Champion Alexander Volkanovski moved up to 155 lbs to fight Islam Makhachev and left the crowd amazed by his performance. The decision went to the judges and Islam Makhachev came out victorious through a unanimous decision. This consolidated Makhachev’s 12-fight winning streak which is the longest active winning streak in the UFC.
Islam Makhachev showed excellent groundwork and took down Alexander Volkanovski four times in the fight. Although the Australian couldn’t even take Makhachev down once, he improvised and defended against five more takedown attempts from the Dagestani. It was an electrifying performance and like every big thing, it wasn’t free from controversy. Volkanovski’s City Kickboxing teammate Dan Hooker accused Makhachev of cheating through the use of intravenous infusions before the fight.
UFC’s Bryce Mitchell also believes that the fight was rigged and the judges took the fight away from Volkanovski. “That fight was rigged as f*ck, dude,” Mitchell said. “I guess they just fcking paid the judges.”

The two fighters agreed on a rematch that may mark the UFC charts soon. Dana White revealed the possibility of a Makhachev vs Volkanovski rematch at the UFC Fight Night 220 post-fight press conference. Yair Rodriguez became the interim featherweight champion which means Alexander Volkanovski will soon be defending his title against Rodriguez. “… the fight that makes sense is Yair vs. Volkanovski, Islam vs. somebody, whenever that happens, and then you do the rematch,” Dana White said.
Meanwhile, footage of Alexander Volkanovski at training has left the internet laughing and it’s not because of some weird tactic the Australian is practising but a rather absurd takedown by his own garments. The internet hilariously refers to the multiple takedowns Islam Makhachev attempted in their first match at UFC 284 saying, “Islam studying them pants.“ “Islam about to offer 1 Mill to get those pants to Dagestan for round 2 camp”, another user commented.
The Volkanovski vs Makhachev rematch is a highly anticipated bout and fans clearly want the two back in the octagon. Volkanovski revealed in an interview that he believes he could have done better and a rematch would be exactly where he shows it. Yair vs Volkanovski is set to happen after which we may see the two competing for the lightweight title again even though there are rumors of Makhachev moving up to the middleweight division.
