The former coach of Khabib Nurmagomedov has finally exposed Khabib’s concern over Islam Makhachev before his bout against Featherweight champ Alexander Volkanovski at UFC 284. The world witnessed this bout as it went unexpectedly intense for both the champs.

Islam Makhachev got a unanimous victory over Alexander Volkanovski. But the real concern was for Islam Makhachev from Khabib Nurmagomedov because the Australian champ gave him more damage than Islam did to Alexander. Fans already saw that Khabib was missing from the corner, and his absence impacted Islam’s performance which was seen evidently. For the fans, it was an upsetting moment as they didn’t get to see their favorite star.

Many in the MMA community know Khabib chose to retire from coaching last year to spend more time with his loved ones. However, this does not mean there is no chance of seeing him not fight again. Khabib has always watched over Islam Makachev, whom he considers a brother and best friend. During many fights, Nurmagomedov was seen standing in Makachev’s corner, constantly guiding him during the fight.

This time Khabib missed his presence. In an interview, Islam even told the interviewer that Khabib did call him about the fight. And during the phone call, he told him adjustments should have been made in that fight. But Islam said he performed like that because you were not there so.

To justify Khabib Nurmagomedov’s concern from coach, Javier Mendez exposes the genuine concern

During the interview on Jibber with Jaber, coach Javier Mendez revealed that Khabib made a call to Javier and he said he was really worried about this fight. Khabib Praised Alexander Volkanovski by saying “Khabib would call me up and would say, ‘Coach I’m really worried about this fight, Volkanovski is really tough, I’m concerned for Islam’.

Then Coach told him “I know you’re worried Khabib but I’m not worried.” Continuing with this coach revealed that Khabib’s prediction went right “Fast forward to the fight, it was everything Khabib Nurmagomedov said that would happen in the fight, and it was a super-tough fight.”

Khabib and Islam are like best friends, and they have been teammates since the age of 10. Both of them know how they can perform in the cage. After retiring from the sport in 2020, Khabib was into coaching and training Makhachev to become the UFC champ, which he did in UFC280. But after that fight, Islam chose to do a champ vs champ fight, this risk almost went against him.
