“Most beautiful f**king chess move” – Israel Adesanya describes Jorge Masvidal’s sensational knee as a POETRY IN MOTION

Jorge Masvidal

Jorge Masvidal is one of the most prominent figures in the UFC. Masvidal is fighting professionally since 2003, and he joined UFC back in 2012. Even though he never became a UFC champion, Masvidal is well known for his flashy antics in and out of the octagon.

Masvidal’s most anticipated fight came against Ben Askren at UFC 239. Masvidal held genuine hate for Askren, and the build-up to this fight was intense. Masvidal entered the octagon with the intent to kill, and he landed the most beautiful flying knee in the history of MMA. It just took him 5 seconds to knock Askren out cold.

The former middleweight champion, Israel Adesanya is a big fan of ‘Gamebred’ and he talked about his skills in an interview, he said, “Jorge his fight IQ… Like the one with the umm… What’s his name? Ben Askren. That was one of the most beautiful f**king chess move ever. So step off to the right, boom and that’s over, and I was behind backstage watching this and freaking the fuck out because man that was just a chess move. He planned this shit the week before. You see the clips of him setting it up like ‘I know what’s gonna happen.’

Masvidal sat down with Logan Paul and his crew to talk about his career, and interestingly enough he discussed knowing how fast he was going to finish Ben Askren even before fighting him. He explained how he saw Ben inside the octagon gesturing about initiating the fight by moving forward. This made Jorge plan to land a knee from the start of the fight.

Going into the cage I was like there is a good chance I am going to land this. When I got into the cage and I saw how he was acting and how imposing…he just wanted to come forward. I was like man there is a good chance he is going to come forward and if he comes forward his next thing is to duck and go for the shot and if he does that he is dead. So I knew that as long as he took that initiative “forward step” I was going to f*ck his world up” Said Jorge Masvidal in the podcast.

Nevertheless, it doesn’t matter if it was planned or not because at the end of the day Jorge still holds the record. But, the fact that he was sure of knocking him out from his initial gestures inside the octagon explains how good of a fighter Masvidal is, and no wonder why he is one of the top welterweights.
