Adesanya was originally set to clash with Dricus du Plessis in a majorly hyped-up showdown. However, du Plessis later opted out due to injury. Controversial contender Sean Strickland took his place and is ready to face off against Adesanya at UFC 293. The main event will showcase an exciting showdown between the two fighters.

Shifting the attention from the fight, Adesanya leaned in on the criticisms he faces regularly for his affiliation with China. Adesanya resides in New Zealand. His tweet about President Biden’s stumbling speech humorously hinted at his criticisms. “My Mandarin is rusty tho…,” Adesanya tweeted. He also featured former President Donald Trump‘s clipping saying China and wrote, “Made in China”.

This unexpected callback is different from Adesanya’s usual impassioned retorts. Sean Strickland hasn’t let up on reminding the world of Adesanya’s previous assertions about his Chinese identity. He previously referred to a video featuring Adesanya in Chinese commercials from his kickboxing days in Asia.
