Israel Adesanya is a hardcore fan of MMA, so he has the right to be brutally honest about what he perceives when one of his favourite fighters is getting a rather unfair farewell, something that not only Adesanya but many have called regardless in the curious case of Nate Diaz. In one of the videos on his Youtube channel, Adesanya predicts the entire main-card of UFC 279. Other fights that are happening are welterweight clashes, firstly, former interim-UFC lightweight champion Tony Ferguson fights Li Jingliang in the co-main slot. Before that, Kevin Holland and Daniel Rodriguez will try to seize the Fight of the Night honours with their exciting fighting style. Then, UFC light heavyweights and knockout artists, Johnny Walker and Ion Cutelaba will face each other in the Octagon. Adesanya talks about the main event bout between Khamzat Chimaev and Nate Diaz in the end.
“Because it’s Nate’s last fight on his contract, so how everyone’s seeing this fight is like you’re feeding him to the Wolf [Chimaev’s nickname]. Yeah, I feel like they’re doing Nate wrong by trying to feed him to this up-and-coming who’s just destroying everyone that’s been in his way… I felt like it would’ve been cool to see him fight someone like… let’s say, Tony Ferguson, that would’ve been a good last fight…” says Adesanya. Adesanya is picking the underdog, Diaz to win the fight by majorly considering the fact that Diaz always shines in the last two of the 5-round war and Chimaev’s never been in a 5-round fight.
