Israel Adesanya sets warning for Sean Strickland
The anticipation has been building for the headline event of UFC 293 in September. Israel Adesanya has sent a direct warning to Sean Strickland recently. He alerted him to the potential consequences of resorting to trash-talking within the confines of the octagon. The upcoming match will see the two men battle at UFC 293. However, the latter was not the initial opponent planned for Adesanya.
Dricus du Plessis was supposed to face Israel Adesanya, but the former suffered an unfortunate injury that forced him to withdraw. The 34-year-old has made his stance on Strickland’s tendency for provocative rhetoric abundantly clear. Sean Strickland’s trash-talking is hugely popular among fans, and Adesanya addressed this. He dismissed Strickland’s words and views, describing him as just another loudmouth.
Adesanya’s familiarity with Strickland’s tactics stems from prior interactions. It has allowed him to discern that it is all part of a show. He acknowledged Sean’s popularity, which stems from his amusingly controversial trash talks, many of which have gone viral on social media. The 34-year-old appears confident about his showdown with Strickland. He is not worried about the ensuing trash talk.
However, he has issued a firm warning to Sean Strickland. Israel Adesnya warned Strickland not to try talking smack to him during the actual fight. To drive home his point, Adesanya cited a video clip of his knockout victory over Paulo Costa, highlighting how Costa’s taunting cost him the match. “If he’s talking to me, he’s gonna get his jaw broken,” Adesanya emphasized.

Adesanya’s coach, Eugene Bareman, recently appeared in an interview with Submission Radio. He revealed what he thought about Sean Strickland and his penchant for trash-talking. He juxtaposed it with his own banter with Adesanya. The latter appeared somewhat unsettled during an exchange with Strickland at a previous UFC press event.
However, Eugene Bareman confidently stated, “Israel Adesanya is solid…Nobody can get in his head.” This reinforced Adesanya’s rock-solid mindset in the face of psychological warfare. Moreover, his coach revealed that he found Strickland’s verbal spats amusing. Bareman admitted that he was not aware of what Sean Strickland particularly said.
He said he actually enjoyed Strickland’s humor, the few that he had heard of in their verbal spat were the same things Bareman would tease Adesanya for. With Israel Adesanya and Strickland diverging in their approaches, the UFC 293 clash is poised to be a showdown where words could potentially hold as much weight as the blows traded within the octagon.
