UFC 279 was worth each little bit of money spent on the PPV. Despite having a complete rehaul of the upper half of the main card, the show went on and delivered.

The big news before the fights themselves was Khamzat Chimaev’s debacle of missing weight by a bizarrely high 7.5 pounds. That not only confirmed that the main event was in danger, but also that the event was at the risk of being scrapped altogether.

However, thanks to the quick action by the UFC’s brass- including Dana White and Hunter Campbell, the card underwent a thorough rejig, with the new main card looking somewhat like this – Nate Diaz vs Tony Ferguson (Main event), Khamzat Chimaev vs Kevin Holland (Co-main event) and also, Li Jingliang vs Daniel Rodriguez.

Israel Adesanya’s YouTube channel, “FREESTYLEBENDER” has amassed a large following over a short span of time, drawing in a larger audience than what is restricted to traditional MMA fans. This has ensured newer eyeballs coming to the sport, and passing on a good word about it, to family, friends and acquaintances.

One of the staples of the aftermaths of most fight nights and PPVs is current UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya posting reactions to the fights on his YouTube. Wildly entertaining, and joined by his exceptionally hilarious brother David Adesanya, the duo react to fights as they happen and then posts the most memorable moments to the channel.

UFC 279 was no exception to the rule. Before proceeding to the fights, David Adesanya shared of glimpse of whom the brothers had placed their bets on – which were, respectively, Johnny Walker, Irene Aldana, Daniel Rodriguez, Kevin Holland and Nate Diaz. The brothers got 4 out of 5 of their predictions correct.

Starting off with the fight between Li Jingliang and Daniel Rodriguez, both the brothers felt like Li Jingliang had been robbed, with Israel Adesanya just chiming in disbelief, “What!”

Reacting to the co-main event, Israel Adesanya remarked at the hasty nature with which Khamzat Chimaev shot for a takedown, saying, “Straightaway”. The fight was exceptionally short, with Adesanya just managing to say in between it, “He’s (Chimaev) gonna go for a D’Arce (Choke).” After the fight, Israel Adesanya remarked, “Shout out to Kevin, he held a good account of himself.

Coming to the main event, both brothers looked visibly hyped, with Israel Adesanya remarking in between, “This is about to get weird… he (Nate Diaz) doesn’t care, he just wants to leave.” Giving props to both icons of the sport, he said “F***ing great job you two…Legends!

The card that was put together in a rush signalled just how well-oiled a machine the UFC is. Adesanya recognized this fact, saying that “This can’t happen in boxing, that’s why I love the UFC”, giving his nod to how the company prioritizes the audience’s entertainment.
