Israel Adesanya has openly criticized Sean Strickland for an incident during their recent sparring session. In this footage, Strickland delivered a devastating head kick that knocked his training partner out. Sean Strickland is known for taking sparring too seriously.
Adesanya took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to share video footage of this incident. “The Last Stylebender” expressed his disapproval through the post. In his post, Adesanya didn’t hold back, describing Strickland’s actions as insecure. He wrote, “Useless insecure wasteman.”
The two UFC stars continue to gear up for a high-stakes showdown. The two middleweights will headline UFC 293 this coming September. Adesanya revealed that it required significant effort on his part to persuade UFC matchmakers to make the fight. Dricus Du Plessis became the No.1 contender at UFC 290 but pulled due to an injury.
Sean Strickland has garnered attention in the MMA community due to his controversial comments. These include his unsettling desire to take a life inside the octagon. Adesanya has already issued a stern warning to Strickland. He clarified that there would be severe consequences if Strickland resorted to trash-talking during their fight.

Initially, it seemed that Adesanya would face the surging contender Dricus Du Plessis at UFC 293. Du Plessis’s impressive KO win over Robert Whittaker at UFC 290 landed him the title shot. Adesanya and Du Plessis even shared an intriguing face-off in the octagon that went viral on social media. However, Du Plessis entered the octagon with a pre-existing injury. Despite escaping significant damage in his fight with Whittaker, he pulled out of the September matchup with Adesanya.
After the cancellation, UFC President Dana White hastily announced the replacement for the UFC 293 main event. Adesanya vs. Strickland was set for the middleweight title fight main event at UFC 293. After reclaiming his position as the middleweight champion from Alex Pereira, Adesanya will make the first defense of his second stint as champion.
Strickland was the right man to take up the challenge and fight Israel Adesanya. UFC 293 will take place in Sydney, Australia, at the Qudos Bank Arena later this September. Sean Strickland stands with a professional record of 27 wins and five losses. Meanwhile, Adesnaya has only lost twice in his career.
