Shields was called a racist for putting up a photo of a Black woman and associating it with obesity. While the image was intentional or unintentional from Jake, people on Twitter gave him a piece of their mind. One of the users posted “You have an unhealthy, pathological somewhat racist obsession with people whose skin is dark. Seek help, Jake. It’s consuming you.” While there were a few similar tweets accusing Shields of supporting racism, others seemed to have sided with Jake.

Many comments supported Jake for his anti-obesity comment. ” The fact we are laughed at by other countries for being fat and now we are rewarding people for it is so weak and pathetic,” said one tweet. While Jake’s tweets are mostly met with harsh criticisms, some of his tweets manage to receive mixed emotions from the general crowd. However, none of the hate gets to the veteran MMA fighter as he continues with his tweets.
