Former UFC lightweight champion Jamahal Hill forewarns Tom Aspinall to prepare for a fight. CEO Dana White earmarked the future matchup recently. Hill was cage side at UFC 295. After watching Alex Pereira win the 205lbs title and Aspinall win the interim heavyweight crown, he has plans to fight both. Aspinall won spectacularly, with a 69-second knockout over Sergei Pavlovich.

Speaking to TNT Sports, Hill has commended Aspinall for being a “stud”. He has said after fulfilling his quota at the 205lbs weight division, he wants to move up and fight the Brit. Hill said he is ready to test the mettle of new talent – Aspinall. He also applauded the fighter’s corner and coaches for steering him to the right kind of bouts. But fans have not positively acclimated to the callout. One such reaction, on X, read:

Hill has lost it...

Hill had to undergo surgery, after suffering a rupture of the Achilles’ tendon. This was ahead of UFC 290 in Las Vegas. His overshot aspirations have not sat well with fans. In a recent interview, he mentioned being on another level than to-be-opponent Pereira. But to jump a division and make a callout is a step too far. At least in a state of an injury; or so fans think.

Consequently, the “Poatan” has made his callout to Israel Adesanya. Hill won the title vacated by Glover Teixeira, in January, but had to forego it after the injury. Despite Teixeira being a close acquaintance and trainer of Pereira, the Brazilian has no strong driving force in this rivalry. He also believes that with his injury, Hill’s recovery might remain suspended for a little while more.

Jamahal Hill vows to be able to knock out Alex Pereira

Alex Pereira, at 9-2 MMA, 6-1 UFC, captured the vacant light heavyweight title when he knocked out Jiri Prochazka. It came in the second round of the UFC 295 main event at Madison Square Garden.

UFC CEO Dana White said ex-champ Hill (12-1 MMA, 6-1 UFC) was the fight to make, despite Pereira calling out former opponent Israel Adesanya after his win.

Hill is confident that he will become a two-time UFC Light Heavyweight Champion. He has been rising through the ranks of the UFC since being signed through White’s Contender Series in 2019. But time and again, the fighter has been opted out as the underdog to “Poatan”. “Sweet Dreams” finally has a chance to prove otherwise. Speaking on his YouTube channel, he said:

Mark my words when I say this, I do not plan on taking him down, I do not plan on wrestling him. I plan on going in there and where y’all think he’s just this otherworldy guy because he did kickboxing and I didn’t do kickboxing — this is a completely different sport. I been doing MMA for years. I been bred in MMA. And whenever I do fight him, standing, I will knock him out, and when I do, I’m going to rub it in every single one of y’all’s face...I won’t rub it in Alex’s face, Alex is a friend, but every single one of y’all that has talked, and disrespected. Regardless of anything, I’m better at my job!

Hill has won all but two, out of his 14 fights in pro-MMA. His first skid came to Klidson Abreu in his sophomore UFC bout. This was overturned to a no-contest later. His only official loss was to Paul Craig, in 2021.
