The lightweight scrap between the veteran Michael Johnson (20-18 MMA, 12-14 UFC) and the young prospect, Jamie Mullarkey (15-5 MMA, 3-3 UFC) just went down at UFC Vegas 58, and these two left everything inside the octagon to deliver a possible ‘Fight of the Night.’

Round 1 – Michael and Jamie got to the center of the octagon to touch gloves, and they started getting their reads as soon as the round started. Jamie started the action with a couple of big leg kicks, and Johnson was keeping his defense tight in hopes of landing a counter shot. Johnson was looking for a moment, but Jamie was fighting with more volume.

Jamie started closing the distance, and he got caught with a big punch that dropped him to the canvas, he recovered well and get back on his feet. Johnson was hot on his trail, but he got stunned by a big punch, Jamie was looking to take him down to finish the fight, but Johnson defended well and finished the fight on his feet.

Round 2 – Jamie wasted no time in getting back to work, he got his timing right, and he started landing the cleaner shots in most of the exchanges. Johnson was trying to catch him coming but the combinations were landing clean for Jamie. He started blasting Johnson with leg kicks as well, and that opened up the head, he again connected with a clean shot that almost ended the fight.

Round 3 – Both fighters came out guns blazing, Jamie started the action but Johnson was staying right there in those exchanges, it remained pretty even until the first half of the round, but Johnson started landing more clean shots that forced Jamie to shoot for a takedown, Johson stuffed that one, but Jamie went for another one, and got caught. He shook it off and continued fighting, however, Johnson clearly got the better of him in round number 3.
