“I was ready, he was not”- Jan Blachowicz makes tough claims about his fight against Aleksandar Rakic at UFC Vegas 54

UFC Light heavyweight fighters Jan Blachowicz and Aleksandar Rakic went toe-toe against each other at UFC fight night on Saturday. Jan Blachowicz is the former Light heavyweight champion and has been an exceptional fighter throughout his career. Rakic has shown superb skills in his MMA career and he was on a 3 fight win streak entering the octagon.
Both fighters fought in the octagon on Saturday and were having a very close fight. Jan dominated the first round despite being cut from Rakic’s jab that landed near his left eye. The fight was looking exciting as Rakic dominated Jan in the second round and showed his remarkably good ground game. After securing an early takedown in the second round, Rakic maintained the dominant spot until the end of the round.

After two rounds, the fight was extremely close and the two fighters looked to engage again in the third round. However, as the third round proceeded, Rakic dropped awkwardly to the canvas as his right knee suffered from an apparent ligament snap. The referee intervened and stopped the contest and Jan was awarded the victory via TKO.

The main event of UFC Vegas 54 ended unexpectedly after Rakic suffer a knee injury in the third round of the fight. Blachowicz talked about the fight in the post-fight interview and appreciated Rakic for the amazing skills he showed in the octagon.
Jan also revealed that he had fun in the octagon and he is excited to enter the octagon again for the title fight against Glover Teixeira. Blachowicz said: “I feel great. I was having fun inside here in the octagon. I cannot wait to step inside again and I hope so. The UFC gave me the next title shot.”
After Winning the fight, Jan also reacted to Rakic’s knee injury. Jan seemed disappointed to win via injury. He said: I’m a fighter, I’m a warrior. It’s better when you win by KO, TKO or Submission clean. But my body was tougher tonight. That’s it. End of story. I was ready for third, fourth, five rounds. He was not.”
With this win, the former light heavyweight champ has earned his spot for a title rematch against Glover Teixeira. However, Glover defends his title against challenger Jiri Prochazka in Singapore at UFC 275 on July 12 and if he successfully defends his title against Jiri, then the rematch fight between glover and Jan can be a great light heavyweight match-up.
