Polish fighter Jan Blachowicz faced a tough challenge in the UFC light heavyweight championship bout at UFC 267. Then 42-year-old Brazilian ju-jitsu champion Glover Teixeira choked out Jan in the second round, losing his championship belt.
Blachowicz’s journey in the UFC had its ups and downs. He encountered a problematic start, suffering four losses in his initial six fights. However, his fortunes began to change after a bout with Devin Clark in 2017, where he showcased a remarkable comeback and secured victories in five out of his next six fights.
In September 2020, Blachowicz achieved a significant milestone in his career by defeating Dominik Reyes via TKO. He made history as the first male Polish UFC champion, an achievement celebrated by his team and fans. Despite his successes, critics were harsh regarding his qualities as a champion. Having a child that stands out is undoubtedly difficult for a family.
Against Teixeira, Blachowicz was initially seen as the favorite after a long time. He started well; however, Teixeira’s experience and tenacity turned the tide, as he capitalized and ended the fight claiming the championship. Jan burst into tears after losing the title belt. In the recently resurfaced video, fans have made humor out of a serious Blachowicz who was unhappy about his totle loss.
Fans recall Jan Blachowicz’s reaction after loss
Jan Blachowicz is under massive pressure to regain his championship. He can compete for another title bout if he defeats Alex Pereira at UFC 291. In the meantime, netizens made light of Blachowicz’s simple explanation of how he felt. Here are some of the reactions from Twitter:
Jan is an MMA veteran with a professional record of 29 wins, nine losses, and one no-contest. Jan ranks third on the UFC’s Light Heavyweight rankings and has definitely marked his place in the division. Meanwhile, Alex Pereira has shown excellent performance with just nine professional MMA fights under his belt. He was able to become the middleweight champion and also dominate the division. Pereira still ranks #2 in the UFC Middleweight rankings. Fans expect a highly electrifying fight between the two in the upcoming UFC 291 co-main event.
