The middleweight clash between Cannonier and Vettori was thrilling, with both fighters displaying their skills and determination. Ultimately, Cannonier emerged as the victor, winning a unanimous decision and providing great entertainment for the fans.

During the post-fight press conference, the topic of Khamzat Chimaev entering the UFC middleweight division was brought up. Cannonier was asked about his willingness to welcome the “Chechen Wolf” into the division. Surprisingly, Cannonier expressed a specific condition that would determine his interest in a potential fight against Chimaev.

Cannonier stated that he would only consider fighting Khamzat Chimaev if it would bring him closer to a title shot. In his own words, Cannonier said, “I understand that Khamzat is popular and fans want to see him compete. If the UFC approaches me with a contender’s match against him, then I’m interested. My focus is on winning the title, not just entertaining the audience.” He then said,” I know people would enjoy the fight, and it could be a good matchup. But for me, it has to be a fight that gets me closer to the championship because I just defeated the number three ranked fighter. I’m looking forward, not backward—I want to become the champion”.
