Javier Mendez Predicts the Winner of Heavyweight Title Unification Bout Between Francis Ngannou and Ciryl Gane
Francis Ngannou vs Ciryl gane
UFC 270 will take place on January 22 at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California. The event will be headlined by the much-awaited heavyweight title bout between Francis Ngannou and Cyril Gane. It will be the first title defense for Ngannou after winning the belt against Stipe Miocic last year. On the other hand the challenger, Gane has made it this far after defeating everybody that came in his way which includes fighters like Alexander Volkov, Junior Dos Santos, Derrick Lewis, etc.
Since the announcement of the fight, the rivalry between both fighters has become very serious. Both the fighters are considered to be old friends who have trained with each other in their early amateur and professional days. But now it seems like both Ngannou and Gane are eager to defeat each other and prove to the MMA world who is the most deserving champion.
For Gane, it will be a humongous task as his opponent is known for his brutal power and ability to knock people out in a blink of an eye. Since joining UFC, Ngannou has defeated ten opponents via knockout, all of them in the first round. Gane will have to be extremely careful while approaching his opponent and deduce an efficient plan to become victorious.
Javier Mendez’s take on the heavyweight tile unification fight between Francis Ngannou vs Ciryl Gane
Mendez recently sat down with Helen Yee Sports where he discussed his opinions regarding the upcoming heavyweight title bout. According to Mendez, stylistically it is a great fight. Ngannou has brutal power and it is dangerous for any fighter. “If he touches you there is a risk factor for the person who gets hit,” said Mendez about Ngannou’s overwhelming punches. On the other hand, Mendez gave credit to Gane for having the athletic ability and diversity that is hard to find in a heavyweight.
Mendez explained that if the fights get longer and Gane manages to survive the initial rounds he has a chance to win. But if Ngannou catches him in early rounds it’s game over for the challenger. Mendez ended the discussion by saying it’s hard to predict the winner as it is going to be a very tough fight. “I don’t really know who’s gonna win they are both great fighters,” said Mendez.
