Jiri Prochazka recently revealed his top 5 MMA fighters. The Czech UFC contender competes in the light heavyweight division. Jiri Procházka is ranked #14 in the UFC men’s pound-for-pound rankings and #1 in the UFC light heavyweight rankings.

Jiri Prochazka recently revealed his top 5 MMA fighters in a recent interview with RMC Sports Combat. While expected names like Jon Jones and Georges St-Pierre made the list, Prochazka raised eyebrows by including Charles Oliveira, alongside Conor McGregor and Fedor Emelianenko. Meanwhile, undefeated Dagestani champion Khabib Nurmagomedov was nowhere to be seen on the list. He said:

Jiri Prochazka will return to the octagon after an absence of more than a year. Prochazka, a former light heavyweight champion, had secured the title when he defeated Glover Teixeira at UFC 275. Unfortunately, a severe shoulder injury before UFC 282 compelled him to drop the title. Now, Prochazka is back in competition and his next opponent is new light heavyweight contender Alex Pereira. Pereira was the former Middleweight champion and he recently defeated Jan Blachowicz in his debut fight in the division. The duo will clash in a highly anticipated battle where Prochazka has aimed to prolong his winning streak.

This matchup will also determine the vacant UFC light heavyweight title. The fight is scheduled to take place on November 11, as part of the main card at Madison Square Garden.

How did Jiri Prochazka recover from his devastating shoulder injury?

Jiří Procházka overcame the worst shoulder injury in UFC history. Prochazka suffered a significant shoulder injury, forcing him to vacate his UFC Light Heavyweight title and withdraw from the UFC 282 title fight against Glover Teixeira. Prochazka was out of action for up to nine months.

When UFC CEO Dana White addressed Prochazka’s injury on Paddy Pimblett‘s podcast, he labeled Procházka’s shoulder injury as the “worst shoulder injury ever in the UFC”. He said:

 ...the doctor literally said in all the years of the UFC, this is the worst shoulder injury we’ve ever seen...It’s pretty nasty...he still wanted to fight...He tore it good.

Prochazka recovered from this injury with a combination of physical and psychological strategies. Revealing his secrets, Procházka emphasized the importance of the mind and mental state in such situations. He highlighted the adversity he faced and the need for significant psychological recovery.
