Jiri Prochazka’s fight for FIRST title defence in works for UFC’s FINAL PPV in 2022

The Light Heavyweight champion, Jiri Prochazka is potentially going to defend his title at UFC 282 in December. Multiple sources with knowledge of the promotion have confirmed this news. The defence will take place in the main event of the UFC’s final pay-per-view of the year.

Jiri Prochazka a Czech Republican native and has been competing in the UFC since 2020. He was the inaugural Rizin FF Light Heavyweight Champion and the inaugural Gladiator FC Light Heavyweight Champion. As of now, he is ranked #9 in the men’s pound-for-pound ranking in the UFC.

The champion is on a 13-fight win streak in MMA. His last loss was in 2015 at the hands of Muhammed Lawal in Rizin. After debuting in the UFC he defeated two of the best contenders in the division quickly earning him a title shot with the then-champion Teixeira at UFC 275.

The rematch between Jiri Prochazka and Glover Teixeira is in discussion for UFC 282

Former champion Glover Teixeira is going to get his rematch with the current champion. The Brazilian lost his title at the hands of Jiri at UFC 275 in a very thrilling matchup. The fight is a potential “Fight of the Year” candidate. The constant back-and-forth fight ended with The Czech native securing a rear-naked choke to finish the fight with less than 30 seconds remaining.

Up until the choke the Brazilian was slightly ahead on the score cards and would’ve picked up the win. The Brazilian wants to win the title back at UFC 282 to become a two-time Light Heavyweight champion.

With verbal agreements in place from both athletes, the rematch is set for the last PPV of the year. The UFC card doesn’t have an official location yet, Although in all likelihood it will take place in Las Vegas, Nevada.
