Joe Rogan was an influence in making the fight between Lesnar and Hunt! Brock Lesnar and Mark Hunt are two of the most famous names in combat sports. The former had an extensive career in pro wrestling and mixed martial arts, whereas Hunt made a name for himself fighting in Japan.

While The Beast Incarnate was able to win the UFC Heavyweight championship, Hunt never touched UFC gold. However, The Super Samoan is a former K-1 world champion.

During their prime, fans often wondered who would win in a fight between the two. Luckily for them, fans had to not wait too long for their answer. At UFC 200, Lesnar who was away for some time faced Mark Hunt. While the card was headlined by Daniel Cormier and Anderson Silva, fans were particularly interested in the bout between Hunt and Lesnar.

Many believed Brock would win convincingly whereas others felt Hunt would knock Lesnar out. However, the people who believed Lesnar would dominate were right. Using his wrestling, the South Dakota-born fighter won by unanimous decision. But, this sweet victory would later turn bitter for Lesnar, as the fight was turned into a no contest.

Even though the fight was largely dominated by Lesnar and later declared a no-contest, fans still have a smile when they remember the thrill leading up to the bout. While many thank Dana White and the UFC for making this bout, it turns out that Joe Rogan was the reason why this match-up came to fruition.

UFC color commentator Joe Rogan knows both MMA and the UFC like no other. Serving the promotion since 1997, Joe Rogan is one of the oldest employees of the promotion. A man who stands for what he believes is right, Rogan is respected by his peers.

During an episode of his podcast, The Joe Rogan Experience, Rogan said that he had been persuading UFC boss Dana White to make this match-up. The color commentator said, “Lesnar-Hunt is the freakiest freak show of the freak shows. When they were talking years ago about bringing Brock Lesnar back, Dana and I were having a conversation and I was saying ‘please Mark Hunt, please Mark Hunt’.”

The long-time color commentator back then added that a match-up between Lesnar and Hunt made sense. It is safe to say that Rogan had a vital role in making the fight between Hunt and Lesnar.
