Yair Rodriguez is one of the most craftiest and unique strikers in the UFC. Coming from a Taekwondo background, he displayed incredible kicking skills. As such, this grabbed the attention of the UFC color commentator Joe Rogan. In one of his podcasts, he praised Rodriguez on his unorthodox skill set and fight style.

The UFC commentator spoke highly of Yair Rodriguez on his podcast episode. Presumably, this was before ‘El Pantera’ fought for the UFC title. As such, Joe Rogan played Rodriguez’s highlight reel to his guests and applauded the fighter. He was amazed by Rodriguez’s spinning kicks and even called him the ‘wildest motherf****r.’ Here is what he said:

Yair Rodriguez is one of the wildest motherf****rs that’s ever fought in MMA. Yair has some of the craziest kicks. He’s got this Taekwondo background but he does all this wild s**t. He hit BJ Penn with a 360 degree round house kick! He’s a beast dude. He’s so dynamic.

Joe Rogan further detailed the instance of Yair Rodriguez executing a 360-degree kick against BJ Penn to prove his point. ‘El Pantera’ arguably was one of the most exciting strikers in the UFC featherweight division. His last-second knockout of The Korean Zombie shocked the whole MMA world. Rodrigues caught TKZ with a reverse elbow just one second before the buzzer to secure the victory.

Recently, Yair Rodriguez faced Brian Ortega in UFC Mexico this weekend. The Mexican fighter came in after a brutal loss to Alexander Volkanovski in a title fight. As such, he looked to turn the tables. Unfortunately, he lost the fight in the third round via submission. This loss has put ‘El Pantera’ in a difficult spot as he has a record of 3-3 in his last six fights.

Max Holloway in disbelief as Yair Rodriguez loses at UFC Mexico

Yair Rodriguez is one of the most loved fighters in Mexico. As such, he took on Brian Ortego in the UFC’s return to his home country. He also entered the fight as a favorite to win the matchup, given Ortega returned from a year-long hiatus. However, the fight ended in an unfortunate way for ‘El Pantera.’ Fellow featherweight Max Holloway watched the fight and was in disbelief as Ortega snatched a submission victory.

Max Holloway and Yair Rodriguez have fought toe-to-toe in 2021. As such, knowing Rodriguez’s potential, Holloway backed him up to win the fight. As such, ‘El Pantera’ did well in the first round and even knocked down Ortega. But, in the third, Ortega caught Rodriguez in a head and arm choke and finished the fight. This shocked Holloway as he continually uttered ‘Damn’ in an upset voice.

Yair Rodriguez failed to deliver in UFC Mexico and lost his potential chance to compete for the UFC title once again. As such, ‘El Pantera’ has to put on a winning streak and find his way back to title contention now.
