The topic of abortion is a sensitive topic, especially in the United States of America. Podcaster Joe Rogan discussed the issue of the right to abortion along with Seth Dillon.
The United States of America’s Supreme Court overturned the Roe v. Wade last year, which ended the constitutional right to abortion after nearly 50 years. UFC commentator Joe Rogan and Seth Dillon, CEO of the popular satirical site Babylon Bee discussed the issue on one of the episodes of The Joe Rogan Experience.
The Babylon Bee wrote satirical takes on topics like Christianity, politics, etc. and its CEO and Rogan had varied takes on the topic of abortion. Rogan argued, “There’s also women who have been raped, who should not have to fucking carry some rapist’s baby. There’s women who have been sexually assaulted before the age of 14″.
The Babylon Bee CEO responded by saying, “…there are people who have been born of rape and are alive right now and are pro-life and they go around speaking, talking about how ‘I had a right to live’ and they will go out there and make an argument, a pro-life case.”
Rogan clapped back at this and said, “You don’t have a right to tell a 14-year-old girl, she has to carry a rapist’s baby.” He followed up by saying, “Like, you don’t have the right to tell my 14-year-old daughter, she has to carry her rapist’s baby. You understand that?”
Joe Rogan expresses general support for abortion but believes it is a complicated issue
Seth Dillon and Joe Rogan went back and forth on the argument for a while. The two differentiated in opinions but reached a common ground.
Dillon said that he doesn’t believe two wrongs make a right. “… I don’t think murder fixes a rape.” Rogan conveyed overall support for abortion but concluded that it is a “complicated issue”.
“It gets weird when the baby gets like six months old,” Rogan said. “I know that some states (allow) late-term abortions and sometimes you need one for medical reasons, right? The woman could die if she gives birth.“ Rogan believes that it is a decision people have to and should be allowed to make. “I am 100% for a woman’s right to choose, “ he said. “But as a human being, just a person observing things, there’s a big difference between a little clump of cells and a fetus with an eyeball and a beating heart.”
