Joe Rogan recently had Shane Gillis on his renowned Joe Rogan Experience podcast. They talked about things like the Michael Chandler knockout of Tony Ferguson and also about Kanye West and antisemitism. Moreover, Rogan also told Gillis about the legend of prime Nick Diaz.
Even though Nate Diaz is a bigger name in fight promotion, Nick Diaz had a bigger following during his stint at Strikeforce. This is what Rogan said about the Diaz brothers, particularly Nick Diaz.
I mean, Nate's great, but Nick was the real star of the family. He just never got to the UFC while he was in his prime. If he had been a UFC champion during his prime, it would have been amazing because he was in top form during Strikeforce where he was dominating everyone, not just knocking them out but beating them up.Joe Rogan via JRE
Rogan cited Nick Diaz being less popular than his younger brother due to his late entry to the UFC. The older Diaz brother fought in the Strikeforce during his prime. It was at Strikeforce where he remained undefeated and was also a welterweight champion. In addition to Strikeforce, Diaz has fought in Pride, EliteXC, and the UFC. Rogan believes that Nick Diaz is the real star of the Diaz family due to his amazing run at Strikeforce.
Nick Diaz is winless in his previous 4 weights in the UFC. His latest outing at UFC 266 ended in a TKO victory for Robbie Lawler. There are rumors of Diaz’s presence at the upcoming UFC 300. However, UFC CEO Dana White has not made any mention about it.
Joe Rogan explains the fighting style of Nick Diaz
The Diaz brothers, known for their exceptional cardio, were the first to weaponize it. The brothers used it to full advantage in their fights. It was Nick Diaz who started the trend. Nate Diaz also followed suit in his career.
In a recent podcast episode, Joe Rogan told Shane Gillis about the pressure-fighting style of Nick Diaz. This is what he said.
He would keep talking trash to you, keep punching you, and you'd get tired while he stays on you, giving you no breathing room.Joe Rogan via JRE
Rogan attributes trash-talking as an integral part of Diaz’s fighting style. The trash-talking combined with pressure fighting broke opponents, mentally and physically. His victories over Robbie Lawler and Paul Daley are examples of the effectiveness of this fighting style.
