“I would like to see it” Joe Rogan is sold on the idea of a potential Kamaru Usman vs Canelo Alvarez fight

Joe Rogan on Kamaru Usman vs Canelo Alvarez

Joe Rogan is all in for a fight between Kamaru Usman vs Canelo Alvarez. Despite many suggesting the boxing match could upset the stocks of the welterweight champion, the UFC commentator thinks otherwise.

UFC commentator, podcast kingpin, and comedian, Joe Rogan made his first appearance on the Hotboxin with Mike Tyson podcast. On the special show, both the fight icons spoke about several upcoming potential fights. One that lit up Joe’s eyes was a potential showdown between the UFC pound-for-pound champion vs the boxing pound-for-pound champion.

Despite Kamaru not being known for his striking, the Nigerian Nightmare has been pushing for a boxing match against arguably the greatest striker in the world of combat sports right now. UFC’s boss Dana White has shut down the possibilities for such a fight but Joe believes the fight could turn out to be a huge success for Usman.

“I would like to see him fight Canelo,” said Joe talking to Mike Tyson on the Hotboxin podcast. “I really would. Not because I think that he’s a favorite in a boxing match against one of the greatest boxers of all time but I want to see him get a giant payday.”

Though Usman may turn out to be a massive underdog in the fight, Joe believes the welterweight champion can make a lot of money and also not affect his potential as a UFC fighter in case of a defeat against Alvarez. “That’s a way you can make a sh*t load of money and I don’t think it damages his potential as a UFC fighter. I think it would be an invaluable experience for him as a champion,” said Rogan talking to Tyson on the podcast.

Kamaru is currently sweeping the entire welterweight division. He has now managed to beat some of the top contenders twice with the belt in line. Usman has the longest active winning streak in the welterweight division with 15 fights. Usman has never been defeated inside the octagon and is already making a great case for being on the Mt. Rushmore of UFC fighters.
