Last month, 78-year-old Neil Young announced his return to Spotify. Meanwhile, Joe Rogan took his own jab at Young who protested the platform for over two years because of Rogan. Here is what happened:

On a recent episode of The Joe Rogan Experience, Joe Rogan welcomed Neil Young to Spotify on a sarcastic note.

By the way, Neil Young came back to Spotify. Congratulations, Neil. And his excuse was he said that because all of the platforms are now allowing my disinformation, he's just going back on Spotify too. Great to know you've got some ethics.

Joe Rogan’s podcast, ‘The Joe Rogan Experience’ caught a lot of heat in 2022 when major names in the industry wanted to cancel Rogan for spreading misinformation about COVID-19 vaccines. It was a major controversy and many people boycotted Rogan and Spotify who exclusively hosted the UFC color commentator. Neil Young gave Spotify the ultimatum saying that they could either have Rogan or him, but not both.

Spotify removed Young’s songs on January 26, 2022. The platform later declared that it would add an advisory to podcasts that discuss COVID-19. Rogan responded, saying he was happy to have the disclaimer and that he never tried to promote misinformation or be controversial.

Last month Young announced that his music would return to Spotify because misinformation is no longer exclusively on Spotify. Rather it is everywhere now and he cannot leave Apple and Amazon because his music would be left with very little streaming outlet. Joni Mitchell who similarly protested against Rogan recently got back on Spotify too.

Joe Rogan worked as a security guard at a Neil Young show

Back when renowned Canadian musician Neil Young attacked Joe Rogan for the Covid 19 vaccine controversy, Rogan put forth his stance in a ten-minute-long video on social media. This was when he went on a tangent and told his story of working security at Neil Young’s concert.

This was back when Joe Rogan was working as a security guard at Great Woods Center for the Performing Arts in Mansfield, Massachusetts. It was 1986 and young Joe Rogan was only 19 years old. He recalled the story of how one of Young’s concerts got too cold one day and people started lighting bonfires on the lawn.

Rogan and his team were supposed to put the fires out. But when they tried, the people got even more agitated and suddenly a brawl broke out at the concert. It became so uncontrollable that Joe Rogan put his hoodie on and went home. Rogan recalled singing, ‘Keep on Rockin’ in the Free World’ which is one of Neil Young’s hit songs. Rogan quit his job that day and did not collect his last paycheck.
