Almost every MMA fighter who has made it pro is one of the scariest human beings to an average person with no knowledge of combat. However, among these fighters are a very specific few that are feared for the elite level of skill they possess. Joe Rogan, who has seen everything in the octagon as a commentator in UFC, revealed one of the scariest fighters he’s seen.
If there’s any person who can determine if a fighter is scary or not, UFC commentator Joe Rogan would be one of them. Joe Rogan on his podcast revealed why former UFC fighter Rousimar Palhares was one of the scariest fighters with his leg-locking techniques. Palhares, by many, is considered a dirty fighter. UFC fighter Jake Shields often commented on how Palhares would try to eye-poke him several times in their bout at WSOF, now PFL. However, one of the main reasons why Palhares is considered scary and was released from the organization is due to his submission holds.
Palhares had gained notoriety among the MMA community for his submission techniques. While he had great technique, Palhares would not leave the opponent, even if they tapped. He was repeatedly fined and warned, but Palhares carried on with his ways. Due to this, Palhares was fired from the organization and left to join WSOF.
Rogan also mentioned Palhares having a bad childhood. He mentioned Palhares being forced to pig slop to survive.” I think he came from a bad childhood and he’s talked about it in depth about growing up on a farm and being forced to eat pig slop when he was a little boy. That cut that he has on his chest, that big scar he sealed that up with glue. Yeah! Like crazy sh*t.” added the Rogan. His past was definitely one of the main reasons for his performance in the octagon and why he was released.
Joe Rogan on who’s the best MMA fighter ever
The greatest MMA fighters of all time have been a topic of conversation that has been and will be debated for a long time. While many people have different fighters on their list, Joe Rogan revealed who he thinks is the greatest MMA fighter. On his podcast with guest David Goggins, Rogan touched on the topic of the greatest MMA fighters according to him.
Joe Rogan first of all cleared that the greatest ever in MMA is a very tough question. He then mentioned Demetrious Johnson, aka Mighty Mouse, will be his best bet for the argument. “He was the highest level of expression of mixed martial arts but he was so skill full,” said Rogan. He also added, considering Jon Jones to be in the conversation as well.
According to Joe Rogan, Jon Jones never actually lost a fight. He achieved all that he had with talent, less training and sometimes partied hard days before his match. “That’s a nasty motherfu***er, Jon Jones beat Alexander Gustafson without training,” expressed Rogan. Rogan also added Khabib to his list of G.O.A.T. and discussed more about his fight with Conor McGregor as well.
