DC talks about Joe Rogan’s advice! Retired mixed martial artist and former UFC 2 division champion Daniel Cormier has been a different personality altogether in his retirement life, a fun-loving guy that loves to be like any other hardcore fan of the sport even after being done with it. Cormier has been an integral part of the UFC’s commentary desk for the fighting events long before he retired and he seems to love the job whole-heartedly.

Recently, Cormier was criticized by many for his commentating skills, considering it to be biased. DC trained with AKA his whole life, and many accused him of taking favor of his teammates during the fight. Former UFC’s interim lightweight champion, Justin Gaethje blasted DC for asking for a title shot for Islam Makhachev.

Gaethje was coming from a win over Michael Chandler, and he believed he was next in line for the title, DC and others were pushing Islam’s name, and Gaethje accused DC of exploiting his platform for the wrong purpose. Gaethje eventually got his title shot, and we all know how it went.

DC will join the commentary booth at UFC 275, and he revealed the life-changing advice he received from MMA legend, Joe Rogan. Talking to MMA Junkie, DC said, “I’ve taken that from my fighting career where people were kind of divided on me. You had the guys that cheered and the people that booed and it’s the same thing with commentary. I know how much time I spend preparing for this. I know, I try to give these guys and tell their stories and do them justice. Sometimes, people just don’t see what you see and that’s really on them. But I’m not apologizing for doing my job.”

He added, “People can be mad at you, but it’s like we just gotta talk about it, right? I’m not a guy that – they gotta move a little different around me. I don’t really worry about it too much. Rogan told me, I was on some, ‘Ah the fans, this, this’ and then Rogan said it on air. He goes, ‘Oh, you gotta be careful with our bias commentary.’”

“He just doesn’t care. He just does not care because the reality is it does not matter. You’re put in a position to do a job that is very, very difficult and very few people in the world can do it, so you do it to the best of your ability,” DC concluded.
