Khalil Rountree Jr. is one of the top ten contenders in the UFC’s light heavyweight division. Rountree once went on the Joe Rogan Experience where he revealed that at one point, the UFC light-heavyweight contender weighed over 300 pounds.

Rountree Jr. was candid about his transformation journey on Joe Rogan‘s podcast. He revealed that at one point in time, he was dangerously unhealthy.

So after high school I started touring and that's when I started getting my heaviest. We were eating fast food every single day. Three times a day, never drink water, soda only. Smoking like a pack and a half of cigarettes a day and just on the road traveling. And then by 19, I got up to 305 pounds.

Rountree Jr. was born in Los Angeles, California in February 1990. When he was two, his father was shot and killed during an attempted robbery while working as Boyz II Men’s tour manager. Rountree joined Muay Thai classes which helped him lose weight and quit his unhealthy practices. According to his estimations, he lost 100 pounds in 11 months and his life overall got better.

Rountree Jr. began his MMA amateur career in 2011 after training for one year. He became a hot prospect after winning four consecutive fights and was featured on season 23 of The Ultimate Fighter, where he reached the finals of the light heavyweight competition. Rountree currently ranks #8 in the UFC light heavyweight rankings. He currently trains at Syndicate MMA Las Vegas.

Joe Rogan reacts to Mike Tyson fighting Jake Paul

Joe Rogan predicts that if Jake Paul faces Mike Tyson in July, Tyson could potentially hurt Paul. He said that Tyson will likely defeat Paul in the upcoming fight. Rogan acknowledged Paul as a legitimate boxer after assessing his fight against Tommy Fury and said that it earned him the respect.

However, he also highlighted that Tyson is hard to beat despite his age. Tyson is a former world champion and is training with Rafael Cordeiro who is a world-renowned MMA trainer. Mike Tyson will be 58 years old when he fights Paul this summer.

Rogan said that he does not care how old Tyson might be, he still has the power to beat 27-year-old Paul. The matchup has received a lot of criticism from everybody, yet there is excitement to see what might happen. It will be interesting to see what goes down in the ring this July.
