Neil deGrasse Tyson appeared on episode 1904 of the Joe Rogan Experience. At one point in the interview, Tyson started explaining why he avoids hallucinogenic substances. Tyson said:

The human mind barely works as it is... Our brain barely works as an accurate decoder of the natural world around you, you now want to stir in chemicals? I have always valued objective reality. I don't want anything interfering with my understanding of what is actually happening in front of me.

Tyson has admitted that he values objective reality above all else. Psychedelics are a subclass of hallucinogenic drugs and can trigger non-ordinary mental states and an apparent expansion of consciousness. Psychedelics can cause specific psychological, visual, and auditory changes, and can often substantially alter a person’s state of consciousness.

Joe Rogan has been actively involved in discussing and documenting psychedelic experiences. Rogan constantly engages in conversations about psychedelics on his podcast. He values insights from experts and his discussions seem to have found a popular fanbase among his global audience. Moreover, he expresses optimism about psychedelics and has often emphasized their potential benefits.
