Joe Rogan discussed the Robert Whittaker vs. Dricus Du Plessis fight with guest Billy Walters. He talked about how Du Plessis secured the win against Whittaker despite a severe injury. Here is what happened:

On one of the JRE podcast episodes, Joe Rogan revealed how Du Plessis’s foot injury did not keep him from winning. Rogan said: 

Dricus Du Plessis, when he fought Robert Whittaker, he had a broken foot. And he beat one of the top guys in the world with a broken foot! And that's kind of cr*zy that fighters do that. But that's the type of human being they're dealing with. And they can win that way. Just because you know that guy's injured doesn't mean that guy's gonna lose.

Dricus du Plessis suffered a foot injury during camp before his UFC 290 fight against Robert Whittaker. The South African defeated Whittaker in the title eliminator fight at UFC 290. The fight happened last year in July at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. Du Plessis won the fight via technical knockout in the second round. This win earned Du Plessis a $50,000 bonus as the Performance of the Night award. He also got the number-one contender spot in the middleweight division.

Dricus du Plessis was expected to face Israel Adesanya for UFC 293. However, he decided not to fight due to a leg injury and was replaced by Sean Strickland. In a YouTube video, Du Plessis explained that he had a small fracture in his foot. He revealed that he got injured and was not supposed to take shots for the first two weeks of camp.
