Interim heavyweight champion Tom Aspinall made rumbles every chance he got to set up a fight for the undisputed title. Since the undisputed champion Jon Jones remained on the sidelines and pursued a fight with Stipe Miocic, the Englishman was forced to move on. In the meantime, numerous rumors suggested a super fight between Aspinall and light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira for UFC 300. Now, Jones advised Aspinall on the matter.
In his recent interview with Submission Radio, Jon Jones suggested his views on the floating rumors of Alex Pereira vs. Tom Aspinall. He envisioned himself in Aspianlls’ position and advised him to take the fight and make money. Here is what he said:
If I were him, I would get after it. I would get after it. If you truly believe you're one of the best in the world, then get after it. Go out there and compete. The real fans will count your victories as championships or whatnot. But, don't let me slow you down, go out there, kick b*tt and make money.Jon Jones (via Submission Radio)

The rumors of Tom Aspinall fighting Alex Pereira originated from the cryptic mathematical equation the former posted on Instagram. It further developed when Aspinall shared a picture of him and Pereira while wishing Christmas on Instagram. As such, fans believed they were going to fight in UFC 300. However, ‘Poatan’ came forward and declined the rumors later. But, Jon Jones suggested Aspinall fight Pereira if the opportunity was presented.
Jon Jones is the current UFC heavyweight champion. He is recovering from an injury. He injured himself during his UFC 295 training camp to fight Stipe Miocic. As such, he and the UFC persisted with the matchup despite having a new interim champion in the division. Jones would face Miocic next, leaving Aspinall to face any other heavyweight contenders.
Jon Jones open to fighting Tom Aspinall after his legacy fight with Stipe Miocic
Tom Aspinall won the interim heavyweight title in UFC 295 and soon called out the undisputed champion, Jon Jones. ‘Bones’ claimed he would return to face Stipe Miocic and declined Aspinall’s callout. But, the Englishman continuously tried to instigate Jones to accept the fight. The two even had heated back and forth on X. Recently, Jones looked at the possibility of fighting Aspinall.

Arguably on the rear end of his career, Jon Jones acknowledged he only had limited time in the UFC. Many fight fans were enraged since they believed ‘Bones’ would retire after fighting Miocic, leaving out Aspinall. However, Jones stated he was open to fighting Aspinall and said everything depended on his receiver and his next fight.
Although Jon Jones vs. Tom Aspinall looked possible, it would have to wait until the heavyweight champion fights Stipe Miocic. Considering the return timeline of the undisputed champion, Aspinall could only face him late this year. As such, he would have to defend his interim title against other contenders.
