UFC veteran and former champion Rashad Evans had a very impressive career. Evans beat some of his era’s top light heavyweight fighters and was known for his dominating striking prowess. Rashad Evans won the title, defended it once, and later fought for it against Jon Jones for a second run. He recently spoke about his fight against Jones in an interview with “Morning Kombat.”
Evans spoke about how Jones’ standing elbow left him flabbergasted. He said, “I could count the times I felt pain in a fight, and that was one of them. He came over top and caught me with that elbow, it was almost like i pulled myself into it”. Evans also mentioned that at that moment, he didn’t realize what had happened and felt that referee Herb Dean had hit him.
Jones can land vicious elbow strikes and Evans felt one with full power. Evans is one of the most underrated fighters and is loved by fans for his humble and true nature. He is considered one of the best light-heavyweight fighters of all time. Evans returned to MMA at Eagle FC 44 to get back to winning ways after almost nine years.
The rivalry between the two started as brothers and ended as bad-blooded teammates. Evans had supported Jones for his heavyweight title fight against Ciryl Gane. Fans will look forward to seeing the two legends of the sport interact sometime outside the ring soon.
