“It would be worth it,” Jon Jones hands Francis Ngannou all power to stop legendary UFC fighter’s retirement plans after Stipe Miocic fight
The legendary career of Jon Jones could be over after his fight with Stipe Miocic. However, only one fight interests Jones to continue fighting.
Jon Jones and Francis Ngannou
UFC heavyweight champion Jon Jones is one of the most dominant fighters in the promotion’s history. He boasts an impressive record of 27 wins, one no-contest, and one loss via disqualification. Jones dominated the light heavyweight division of the UFC for almost a decade. He will fight UFC veteran Stipe Miocic for his first title defense in the heavyweight division.
Jones is considering retirement after his fight at UFC 295. Jones said in an interview, “I think the Stipe fight will be plenty for me, I’ve been in the game a long time and in fighter years, I am old. I want to be around for my kids, and I could see it coming to an end really soon, and I’m happy with that“.
‘Bones’ also added that a fight with former heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou would be worth entertaining. Jones said, “It would be worth it,” referring to the fight against Ngannou. He believes that the fight will bring big revenue as Ngannou is a former champion and is very popular. The two heavyweights also faced off against each other at a PFL event recently.
Watching a match between the two heavyweight fighters would be pretty entertaining. Unfortunately, several factors have prevented this from happening, such as contract disputes, injuries, and Ngannou’s transition to the PFL. Many fans adore Jones, and his retirement will surely break many hearts.
Chael Sonnen believes that Jon Jones is not one of the greatest in the UFC
Former UFC title challenger Chael Sonnen has had a long-standing rivalry with Jones, and the two do not get along. In 2013, Sonnen fought Jones at UFC 159 but unfortunately got knocked out in the first round. Over the years, Sonnen has trolled Jones on numerous occasions.
In an interview with the MMA Hour with reporter Ariel Helwani, Sonnen spoke about Jones. He voiced his opinion by saying that Jones doesn’t make the GOAT list. He explained, “Look, you’ve got a sport going on here, and Jon Jones, he’s great at the sport. But then you have the fight business, and that’s a game that not very many guys play. Izzy plays it, Conor plays it. Jon does not play it.”
Some contend that Jones cannot be considered the GOAT due to his past drug use and other controversies. Nevertheless, his achievements inside the octagon are unquestionable. He is among the most dominant fighters in the history of the UFC and is certain to be regarded as one of the all-time greats.
