Dana White recently announced that Jon “Bones” Jones will not compete in the main event of UFC 295. Jones was scheduled to headline the card in Madison Square Garden against Stipe Miocic. White announced the news on his social media account. The announcement was due to an injury to Jon Jones that would require a rehabilitation period of 8 months.

The UFC CEO and the MMA community were very much interested to see the matchup between Jones and Miocic. Notably, Conor McGregor recently commented about his anticipation to watch the bout. This is what Dana White had to say about Jon Jones in his X video post.

Jon Jones was training last night, got injured. He was wrestling, and he tore the tendon that connects your peck to the bone off the bone. 8 months. Gonna need surgery, he's out.

Jones was on a three-year hiatus before becoming the heavyweight champion at UFC 285. He won the vacant title against former interim champion and title challenger Ciryl Gane with a first-round submission. Miocic on the other hand was set to compete for the first time since UFC 260 where he suffered a brutal knockout loss to Francis Ngannou.

Interstingly, both fighters had won twice against former two-division champion and current UFC commentator Daniel Cormier. Miocic is 2-1 against Cormier, while Jones went 2-0 before his second win was overturned to a No Contest.

Dana White announces new main event and hyped up for co-main event for UFC 295

With Jon Jones injured out of UFC 295, Dana White announced the new main and co-main event for UFC 295. The original co-main event of the night, the light heavyweight title bout between Jiri Prochazka and Alex Pereira, was elevated to the main event. The new co-main event featured Sergei Pavlovich taking on Tom Aspinall. Pavlovich was the official backup for the event, and the absence of Miocic would obviously mean that the firefighter did not accept a short-notice fight against a new challenger.

Dana White announced the new developments of UFC 295 with a video post on his social media. This is what Dana White said on X after revealing Jon Jones’ injury.

So, the main event is Prochazka vs Pereira. The co-main event now is Pavlovich vs Aspinall for the interim heavyweight championship.

White hyped up the co-main event. He praised Pavlovich and Aspinall for their finishing abilities. Pavlovich currently holds the 2nd rank, and Aspinall holds the 4th rank in the heavyweight division. When the organizers initially announced the bout between Miocic and Jones with Pavlovich as the backup, fans were more interested in Jones fighting Pavlovich. Nevertheless, if Pavlovich becomes the interim champion, a bout between Jones and Pavlovich remains inevitable.
