Jorge Masvidal won the inaugural BMF championship in 2019 against Nate Diaz. Since his retirement, the belt has changed hands to Justin Gaethje. Now, ‘The Highlight’ is putting the title on the line against another game opponent, Max Holloway. Upping the stakes, the fight takes place in the historic UFC 300. Looking into the matchup, ‘Gamebred’ makes a controversial opinion.
In his recent interview with LowKickMMA, Jorge Masvidal stated he would beat the current BMF champion, Justin Gaethje, in a potential fight. He looked extremely confident in saying that. Here is what he said:
If you put BMF (Jorge Masvidal) against BMF (Justin Gaethje), if you put me against Gaethje in there, I would break his f*cking eye orbital, and I would f*cking chop him up. Hopefully that can happen at some pointJorge Masvidal (Via Low Kick MMA)

The UFC introduced the BMF belt for the matchup between Jorge Masvidal and Nate Diaz. While it was termed as a one-time event, the UFC reintroduced the belt after ‘Gamebred’ retired. As such, Dustin Poirier and Justin Gaethje contested for the BMF title at UFC 291. After a closely competed first round, ‘The Highlight’ came victorious via knockout in the second round. Masvidal handed over the BMF title to Gaethje to top the action.
However, Jorge Masvidal has kept an eye on the title before giving it to Justin Gaethje. While ‘Gamebred’ backed his American Top Team teammate Dustin Poirier to win the title, it didn’t go their way. As such, this could be the reason for his recent remarks about ‘Highlight.’ Although Masvidal retired last year, he announced himself ‘unretired’ in January. As such, a fight between the BMFs (Gaethje and Masvidal) was a possibility. However, the title first comes to the line in UFC 300.
Jorge Masvidal looks at the BMF matchup between Justin Gathje and Max Holloway
Winning the BMF title himself, Jorge Masvidal opined about the upcoming BMF fight between Justin Gaethje and Max Holloway. While ‘Gamebred’ won the title when it was introduced, UFC 300 would mark the BMF title being defended for the first time. As such, Masvidal acknowledged the fighters in the matchup and revealed who he was rooting for.

Firstly, Jorge Masvidal stated the BMF championship depended on the fighters chosen to fight for it. He claimed the fighters should leave it all on the line. Here is what he said:
I think it's amazing (Justin Gathje vs. Max Holloway). You just need to pick the right guys, the guys that are leaving it all on the line for the fans, for the entertainment. Those BMFs ain't easy to find. I think Max Holloway's one of the baddest motherf****r that ever lived. That's a dude that I salute...I going for obviously for Max all the way. But, I think it's going to be a fu****g great fight.Jorge Masvidal (via Low Kick MMA)
Justin Gaethje is the current BMF champion who won the title at UFC 291 against Dustin Poirier. He defends the unique title for the first time in UFC 300 against Max Holloway. Since both the fighters were fan favorites and blood seekers, fight fans can’t wait to see it go down. As such, the fight features in UFC 300 in April at the T-Mobile Arena, Las Vegas.
