“This is why I’ll be a #1 fan!” – Justin Gaethje was recently showered with praises by a hard core fan
The internet witnessed a very wholesome incident, courtesy of Justin Gaethje. Despite being a former UFC lightweight champion, Gaethje hasn’t let fame get to his head. ‘The Highlight’ is known to be good to his fans, and his recent actions stood testament to the same.
A fan of Gaethje named Derek Bradford was admitted to a hospital. Posting a picture of him on Twitter, Bradford wrote, “Y’ all give me a RT to see if my favourite fighter @Justin_Gaethje will drop me a visit in the hospital I’ve been recovering in for a month in Denver, he’s been my inspiration for a while. See if we can reach him.” His efforts paid dividends as Gaethje replied to him and tweeted, “Where you at?”
In a following post, netizens could see Bradford and Gaethje posing together. The fan couldn’t hide his emotions, and wrote, “This is why Justin Gaethje is my favourite athlete! Coolest superstar out there, dudes never let his ego get the best of him. This is why I’ll be a #1 fan! From a loyal fan to you, thanks for being a highlight of this entire year for me in my toughest times.”
While Justin Gaethje showed kindness to his fan, ‘The Highlight’ has been missing from action in the octagon. Gaethje was last seen in action at UFC 274, where he faced Charles Oliveira in the main event.
Justin Gaethje eyes a fight against Dustin Poirier on his return
Justin Gaethje is one of the most exciting fighters on the UFC roster. Whenever ‘The Highlight’ steps into the octagon, fans are guaranteed of fireworks. While his absence in the cage is certainly missed by fans, Gaethje looks to create magic against another top lightweight when he returns to fighting.
Recently during an interview, Gaethje showed interest in facing Dustin Poirier in a rematch. He said, “Ideally, Poirier beats Chandler, I’d like to fight Poirier. I mean, he beat me. That’s one win I’d like to get back. It was Fight of the Year, Fight of the Decade — Fight of a Couple Years, probably. That was a hell of a fight. That’s ideal.” [H/T MMA Mania]
However, it looks like the fans have to wait to see Gaethje fight until 2023, as Poirier is set to face Michael Chandler at UFC 281. Till then, Gaethje can take some time to figure out strategies to beat ‘The Diamond,’ if he is so keen on a fight against him.
